Funky Crew Car Club has been founded by Nick Simpson with a vision to create a community for modified car enthusiasts of any make and model, who are more interested in networking and knowledge sharing than in traditional car club activities.
The journey to modify Nick's Mk 2 Ford ST began in 2014 with a vision to create a car that would make his grandad proud - a true Blue Oval fan. Nick's style is all about "less is more", and through numerous subtle modifications, he has managed to achieve an impressive 770bhp while maintaining a clean and standard appearance.
As a long-time member of the car scene, Nick has witnessed the evolution of the community with the rise of social media and the desire for drivers to gain fame on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. He has participated in night car park meets, drag races, and other youthful antics, but he has also seen the devastating consequences that can result from such activities.
As Nick has grown older, he has found that his interests have shifted towards static breakfast meets, organised shows, and building a community based on camaraderie, support, and encouragement. This has inspired him to create a car group that is different from the norm - one that emphasises family values, eschews drama, and operates under the banner of "FunkyCrew has your back!"
